No need to comment on the pros, I concur with comments by other users. Though I need to express the way I enjoy using the touch pad with two fingers. It’s really cool
I have only used this device for four days, and I faced a problem with the keyboard. At first I thought it was keyboard language or regional settings, but after going through the settings, I could not fix the error.
Since the Netbook was new, I had no fear loosing data if I do a system restore, that didn’t work also.
Here is the error I am facing:
When I type r, 54r appears on the screen
When I type t, 74t appears on the screen
When I type o, -o0- appears on the screen
When I type p, -p[ appears on the screen
I tried both the on screen an external keyboards, they all worked without issues.
I called Acer Corporation, the customer representative was nice, he tried to help by giving me instructions, but that didn’t work either, so he asked me to send the Netbook to Texas for servicing.
I am currently in Africa, and shipping this device by express courier to and from Texas will now cost me more that the purchased cost.
I am still contemplating if it’s worth it. Be very careful folks! good to trust one companies like Toshiba, Dell, HP, Compaq, Sony etc.

This is a great options for those who want a small laptop but don’t necessarily want to be restricted by a netbook. This Acer has an 11.6 inch HD display that looks amazing. Pictures look pristine and full of detail with this monitor display. The Acer is extremely portable since it is super light.
It has an Intel Celeron processor and long battery life. The keyboard took some getting used too, even though my previous laptop was a 12 inch Dell Inspiron. When I want to hit ‘enter’ I kept hitting the ” key. My big gripe with this laptop is the mouse/touch pad. Although the multiple touch feature is helpful, the touch pad is 1. not as sensitive, or 2. as big as I would like it to be. They could have made the touch pad a bit bigger, at least expanding it sideways. As it is, I find it a bit uncomfortable.
This is a great option for a laptop and you just can’t beat the price. Get this instead of a netbook.

I had searched around for a net book with a decent speed and memory. I chose the Acer Aspire AS1410-2497 for 399 (amazon has raised the price for some reason) over the Gateway EC1433U with similar specs. I received the laptop and it looked great. I followed all the set up procedures but when I turned it on nothing happened. Blank screen and no hard drive activity. Apparently Amazon takes it on good faith from the distributer that the laptop functions correctly. I rated the product as a 2 because I was happy with the portability and size of the screen… nothing more obviously because the thing wouldn’t turn on. Amazon couldn’t replace it because it wasn’t in stock at the time so I had to send it out to Acer for repairs. This was negotiated after 2 hours talking to customer service at both Amazon and Acer. Its been over a month since I first placed the order and I am still waiting for Acer to return the netbook. So not only did Amazon send me a laptop that didn’t turn on but now they have jacked up the price another hundred bucks. Buyers beware.

Very nice netbook. The keyboard is a little different than my desktop computer but still easy to use. I would recommend this netbook.
