AT THE last IT Show, there were laptops aplenty, but hardly a desktop to be seen. The move towards laptops also means that more of such PCs now come packed with high-powered CPUs and graphic cards.

LG’s R590 has an Intel 1.73GHz Core i7 processor, Nvidia GeForce GT230M with 1GB of dedicated DDR3 video memory, 4GB memory and 500GB of hard-disk space.
The 15.6inch WXGA display runs at a native resolution of 1600×900 and supports 3-D games and full HD-movie playback. To keep the weight down, the optical disk drive is detachable.
With such heavy-duty specs available on laptops, it is no small wonder that desktops are on the way out.
