A very quick look at the UNR desktop on an Acer Aspire One 110L – it’s waaaay better than 9.04 Jaunty, with almost every single thing working out of the box and full graphics acceleration available. Music – As We Travel by Team 9 www.jamendo.com

I’ve just fucked up my Aspire One by pulling out an SD card and decided that I really couldn’t be bothered with the hassle of reinstalling the original software (for the second time) so I’m Ubuntuing it now. It really is no harder than re-installing the original software. First impressions are that it is slower than before, but it’s good to have all the latest software, I couldn’t face installing Firefox 2 or that screen that makes it look like Big Boy’s First Laptop by Fisher Price.
@AtheismandSkepticism I am amazed that people still play sim city!
the song in the background is very good. Who sings the song? Best regards Holger
Its amazing that anyone still uses windows.
Yesterday I was trying to install sim city 4 on a friends vista box, didn’t work.
Ubuntu + wine comes to the rescue. It actually runs faster on ubuntu 9.10 too.
GNU FTW
I’ve installed this on my netbook… and I’ve got to say it’s pretty great to use. Fast boot and response times, slick, space-saving and intuitive interface.
Coming from a windows background it was very intimidating though, depending on what beastie to buy, you can’t expect it to work full-featured “out of the box”, and you’ll need to expect some trouble-shooting and habituation. The Ubuntu community is pretty solid in terms of community support though.
What program is this that puts large icons on the desktop? I’ve been looking for something like that for my netbook, like icons on a smartphone.
I installed this on my Acer Aspire One 532h, and I was pleasantly surprised by it. The only downsides were that it didn’t support the multigesture trackpad and it seemed to drain the battery faster than Windows 7 Starter (I installed it through Wubi, so that might have had an effect on the battery. I’m not sure, though).
Dose anyone knows if its working on HP Pavilion Ze3751us?
Nice music.
was that compiz running with the netbook launcher? It looked like your windows had a little wiggle.
kind of reminds me of android
yes i’ve installed it and it works well, but i’ve problems with the 4gb ssd, it’s “used outside of the parameters” …
i am sure i run it just needs 256 mb ram and a 500 mhz cpu
Ubuntu NBR 9.10 is very very good… I used it right up until my netbook broke. lol… They finally found a way to make Gnome Look attractive with the nbr
haha 1:24 now i know your password^^, it’s

cool netbook remix i hope that it runs on my old asus eeepc …
nice job
@EasyLinux I think it’s the same font that is used for the new lucid splash screen. I could be wrong though
I have a laptop with Windows 7 to do what I need. My netbook is simply for browsing, I am going to somehow create a USB live copy and try it.
What is the font style you use on the slide at 0:03 ?
If you use Windows related programs, you might be better with Windows. But if you just surf the web, use Word processors, etc. Ubuntu is perfect because it runs better then windows.
@megazeroxuxm yeah seriously
You could give it a try first – have a go with a Live USB and boot into UNR first to try it out and decide if you like it before installing. It works great for me.
I am seriously debating whether to to replace Windows 7 Starter on my netbook with this. Comments please?
@megazeroxuxm
Don’t know about mac but i think the things most people do on their pc is easier on linux. The only problem is that people find it hard to switch on a different way of thinking and doing things. And if you try to do stuff in the terminal as a beginner it is easy to do things you don’t want and don’t know how to undo.
man can u help me getting this desktop? if so please.. :p
the original version of Sim City is quite funny because of the very poor graphics compared to the latest release of Sim City-;’
SimCity is a classic city simulator game which i used to play in the early 90′s (the original version) .-.
